How do the market fare during an election year ?

The 2007 chart below was an election year.

As we can see, the index started going up at the start of campaign period till July, lost steam in August then came back full steam again by September and then consolidate till the rest of the year.

The 2010 chart was a presidential election.

This chart also show that during 2010 election shows the same uptrend just like the 2007 election year but this time the uptrend extends up to the third quarter of the year then consolidates on the last 2 months of the year.

2013 chart was also an election year

This chart also shows the same uptrend for the first half of the year, but this year the bull run out of steam early on the second part of the year.

Clearly there is only one common trend between this 3 election years, the index surely goes up on the first half of an election year !
